One of my goals over the past few years is to take complex science concepts and translate them into resources that everyone can understand and use. This year, all of us at the National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) decided to tell the story of our organization in three videos. By working with the talented DC Collective, we were have created and distributed these gems worldwide in large scale digital campaigns.
My biggest challenge each day is to communicate the impact of a disorder on 1 percent of the U.S. adult population. In the grand scheme of things, it impacts a smaller percentage of people than other mental health disorders, like depression or other addictions. However, it is still debilitating to that 1 percent who can’t control this problematic behavior.
The media often gets it incorrect as well. There are a whirlwind of voices, many of whom do not study this topic on a day to day basis. It’s our mission to get the facts straight and tell the story of addiction, recovery, help and hope.
