teamkuglerseattleThese days have been incredibly busy, and there is a lot to update you on. First, let’s start here, here and here. Have you read those? Good! Now… let’s begin.

I knew 2013 would bring a ton of changes, but I didn’t quite know what a wild ride we would have. After a fairytale destination wedding in Costa Rica, we thought we’d settle in for the winter while the hubby wrote this Ph.D. dissertation and I’d be catching up on all of the DC things that I’d neglected during the wedding planning. It turns out, life had other plans. The dissertation stretched until February, and I traveled for work – a lot.

As Mr. Ph.D. defended his dissertation and graduated, I couldn’t be more proud of that man. So many accomplishments packed into five long years of hard work. We knew that the future (and his new job) would bring change, we just didn’t know how much.

After much discussion and a few interviews, we decided that Seattle would be our next home. It’s scary business as you think about moving across the country. We really couldn’t be contemplating moving from one side of the nation to another, could we? Luckily, both of us are experienced in cross-country moves. The only thing we had to do was sell our condo and pack our bags.

He got an amazing job at a prestigious research institute in Seattle. My board of directors allowed me to transplant my office on the West Coast. (I even keep working Eastern hours – my work day starts at 6 a.m and ends at 3 p.m. PT).

We miss all of our DC friends dearly (especially this little guy), and it has been a challenge to start our new life together in a familiar – yet ever changing – city. I’ll have more to share in the coming weeks about our transition. Until then, I’ve developed this mysterious new eye twitch … what’s up with that?
